Innerbay Boats currently has 3 boats in production in the shop. If you see a boat you like, please email: jfhammond@kwic.com

The Inner Bay Double-Ender is a modern version of the Mason Double-ender that was once very popular with duck-hunters and fisherman in the Long Point area of Southern Ontario, Canada. We use a "glued-lapstrake" technique for this boat which yields a much lighter and stiffer craft than the original. With this technique the boat needs only seats, decks and a floor to be stiff enough to work very well. We have also went to 5mm marine plywood for lightness along with cedar deck beams and decks. White cedar floor boards round off this sleek craft. She tracks well and with the sailing option, she is an exciting craft in most wind conditions.

Options for this boat are custom cupboards under the center seat ($350) and a varnished top strake ($150) instead of paint.

The sailing option is $1000 more and really does finish the boat off. The sail is the same as the Ellen rig from Sailrite and the rudder, center-board, mast and sprit pole are custom made in our shop.

Once we build the hull, it is sealed with penetrating epoxy and finished on the outside before we remove it from the mold.

Decks are glues on with 3M 5200 adheasive and the white seams are also 3M 5200. This provides a long lasting, flexible deck that looks terrific with a varnished combing and stem. I also include "faux" rib-blocks between the rails on each side that add strength and provide drainage when the boat is overturned on your dock.

All sailing blocks are made by Reineck & Sons in Massachusetts, who can be reached at www.bronzeblocks.com

In their words," Our blocks and hardware combine the beauty and durability of bronze designs from the guilded age of yachting with the proven performance of modern plastic ball bearings. Manufactured under license from original Herreshoff designs in the Hart Nautical Collections to the highest standards of workmanship and materials to last a lifetime and beyond."

Our oars are custom 9 footers with "epoxied" spoon blades. They are light and very strong. We also pre-mount the bronze "horns" over hand-sewn leather "chafe" protection. The look is traditional and you will not have to adjust the oars for a comfortable pull from either rowing position of the boat. Our centre seat is postitioned slightly aft of center, allowing for proper trim forward when empty and when you are carrying a passenger or supplies, a quick turn in the seat will re-adjust the trim to even out the load.
